All volunteers must be 16 years of age and older.
This shift is 1:00pm-3:30pm.
Volunteers work in our warehouse to assist inspecting, sorting, and repacking donated food and grocery products.
Upon arrival, your team will participate in an orientation about The Greater Boston Food Bank, review warehouse safety, and then be trained for your project. At the end of the shift, we will gather everyone back together to discuss impact, answer your questions, and offer additional ways to engage with our mission.
During the project, volunteers might be asked to load product onto our conveyor belt, inspect and sort nonperishable donations, sort produce, put nutrition labels on product, and package foods for distribution to our partner agencies. Some tasks require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, but we have a variety of tasks for all abilities. In general, the only requirement is that a volunteer stand and inspect products for a few hours. Please remember, closed-toe shoes are required while volunteering (no sandals or flip flops).
